Introducing the bullpen

I’m excited to introduce, for the first time formally, “The Bullpen”.
This past year as Backstory continued to grow and work with new talented Directors and Photographers, the reach of the company expanded in a new way I’d yet to experience. Our traditional Roster is continuing to grow, but there was a group of folks who were all working with us that we wanted to bring in closer to the Backstory family. Freelance creatives we had worked with just once or twice before, junior Directors who are transitioing roles and developing their reels, friends/collaborators who have been circling our radar but have yet to work together formally on a client project. We’d even been hired by a few creatives for their own production support and desired to continue that relationship after the project ended. Out of a mix of necessity and desire,”The Bullpen” was born, giving us a place for all of these talented individuals work to be showcased and promote their unique voices and mediums.
There are so many exciting projects we get to work on throughout the year and without “The Bullpen” it has been hard to showcase them all. I will make a point to continue to introduce these new creatives and share work we have done together – but for now – I am revisiting a few project highlights from 2020 that we missed along the way. First up:
AFTERSHOKZ – CALEB KERR
During the summer of 2020, Caleb Kerr and I finally got to work together on a project after knowing each other for years and sharing a similar background in Crossfit. Working together on this photo campaign for Aftershokz was a fun, local opportunity to build on a future of projects together.
CORRY WIENS – BORN PRIMITIVE
Corry is a talented Director and Editor based out of Chicago who we started working with in 2020. Travel restrictions and remote work didn’t give us the chance to work together on set quite yet, but Corry did take the lead on a few different editing projects with this Documentary for Born Primitive being the highlight.
We’re excited to work with Corry more on set and again in post!
